With the long weekend in full force theres no where I love spending my time than with the perfect brunch in laneways in the city. Degraves is one of Melbourne's iconic backdrops. As we went to shoot the latest outfit post we were met by a couples shoot, where the PDA was in full effect.
As we waited for them to finish up we walked down the alley ways in search of new street art and cafes.I love our laneways, they somehow transport you from the city's hustle and bustle into a secret district of rich culture.
I was a bit hesitant to add this Keep It Simple Cut Out Shift Dress to my Tobi Collaboration list as I wasn't sure if colours like this would make my skin tone look washed out. But I loved the cut and cutouts of the shift dress so off to google/instagram I went.
After seeing Rihannas latest ANTI tour outfits I was sold.
So glad I got it now. Its perfect for autumn. The material keeps you warm on those breezy fall days so you can still look chic in a dress without freezing your butt off.
Oh and my new Yeezy pin from Melbourne's From The Hip arrived the day we shot this and matched the dress perfectly. Match made in Heaven.
From The Hip - Pablo Pin
MRP - Felt hat
American Apparel - Thigh high socks
Betts - Boots
Savers - Leather bag and jacket
Baelani turns 21 today and so I thought it would be the perfect day to post on her dope ass style.
I still can't believe I got on her music late as I did but no doubt her stuff was the perfect timing for what I was going through at that time. 'You should be here' is exactly the type of music I needed. I feel like theres been a gap of real rnb in the scene. Everything sounds so poppy to sell records so it was so refreshing to hear her. Took me back to my teenage days where all i listened to was rnb. She even got nominated for a grammy for that thing.
I also love love love her cover of hotline bling. Check it out here on soundcloud.
As young as she is its hard to believe this babe has gone through such a hard struggle. I'm so happy for her success. I watched an interview on her a few months ago where she was talking about her tatts. She pretty much was like they were telling her she wasn't gonna make it because of the way she looked and getting a face tat wasn't going to help. She's def not the cookie cutter tay tay type beauty were all so used to seeing every where but really do we really need more of those. I love how she kept true to herself and you can tell through her style and her music.
Tomboy chic is my favourite style and its amazing to see her slay in life and not confirm to what people want. Makes me love her even more !!!
On a side note her boyfriend NBA player Kyrie Irving was born in Melbourne and we pretty much claim the Cavs player to be one of our own so lets hope he brings her downunder.
Happy Birthday Kehlani.
Hope to see you tour in Aus soon.
Check out some of my favourite looks below
You Should Be Here
Theres something about the maroon and burgundy hues that make me feel like its really autumn. As the weather gets cooler, it gets harder to come up with outfits to wear out at night.
Crop tops like this are perfect as the cut and style make you always look fab.
I teamed up my Tobi Crop Top with my H&M + Balmain coat and pants from perth label Chalice.
Loved the way the reds and blacks
Life's been a bit of a rollercoaster for me lately, so this shoot fits in perfectly. As we know Melbourne has chaotic weather changes daily. Mix that in with two trips to Sydney and one to Canberra (planes and driving) your body will hate you and make you pay. I'm not kidding the week I came back from family trips and weddings I caught the worst flu. The type where theres so many things wrong with you, you just end up in bed for days not knowing when the pain and groggyness will stop.
3 days in I knew I had to get some shoots done for the blog so it was a classic mind over matter situation. snot faced and high fevered I'm surprised these photos came out alright. Thank god for make up and filters.
I haven't done a monochrome look in a while and love the asymmetrical cut of my new Tobi Alexandra Asymmetrical Top. These look best with high waist pants or skirt. I also added my white Forever 21 blazer with black panel on the arms and gold details to bring the whole look together.
Love when celebs come to Aus and rock our well known labels at events. Queen of Bollywood herself graced our presence in Sydney.
For those who don't know her Aishwayra Rai won Miss world and is often referred to worlds most beautiful woman. For us brown girls you know you you were looking your best if an aunty said you looked like her at some family function.
She then began her Bollywood career and slayed in so many classics. Devdas is still one of my favourites its kinda similar like Romeo and Juliet.
She also married into the Bachan family who are Bollywood royalty and has the cutest daughter.
On her visit to Sydney she attended races at Randwick racecourse (I recently went to a wedding there and it was amazing) and went to a Lonines event. Across the events Australian designer Toni Maticevski looked after her ensembles. I loved the white & champagne dresses.
