As I get the shoots from the US ready i thought i would share some pictures from our Washington Square Park shoot in New York. I think it was one of my favourite parks as it was always so lively. There was always old men playing chess, people walking their dogs, couple and live acts across the park. When we arrived there was a massive hip hop flash mob dancing for the crowd. As we were waiting for crowds to disappear my photographer for the day took some candid photos of me.
Next stop on the USA trip was lovely city of San Francisco.
I liked how everything was close by in terms of attractions, downtown and amazing places to eat. We stayed near the Mission District which the driver said is locals favourite. My iPad I had for work was playing up but thank god we found a Apple store downtown and they helped me reboot it.
Shopping in LA was so much fun. I loved their thrift stores, American Apparel warehouse was just heaven.
The sunday market Fairfax Flea Market was so much fun. I loved finding local designed pieces like my 'fuck' ring.
I remember when the Kesh came out back home i wanted everything form the collection. But ended up buying the crop & jacket. So when I saw this lonely cap at the AA warehouse amongst the rest of the one toned hats i knew it was a sign.
The Tupac two set has been on my to own list for a while. I first saw them online for the first time. When shopping in street wear district on Fairfax i saw the set and knew i had to have it straight away.
Urban Outfitters is essential for those wanting unique edgy pieces. I got this maxi dress from their sale rack and it fit like a charm.
The Staples Center.
Home of the Lakers.
The movie Like Mike staring Lil Bow Wow was one of my favourite movies as a kid.
I used to watch that on repeat so many times so to be at where the movie was filmed years on after was like a dream.
Staples is their version of Officeworks and I only realised it was named after the store when I saw the L in Staples.
Dimepiece is a local LA label with a international recognition. I was lucky enough to be sent a few pieces from their online store when I was back in Melbourne.
Thought it would be perfect to shoot it here.
Ever wonder where your American Apparel goodies are made? Right here of course. On our last stop over in our LA shopping adventure my girlfriend took us to the American Apparel warehouse. AA is known to be sweatshop free and make all their garments downtown in Los Angeles. They'll be making stuff in Bangladesh (where I'm from yay) too but as a socially and ethically conscious brand I'm sure they'll be following all the regulations. As we walked in there were rolls of material on shelves and the lady in store told me on week days they did tours of the factory.
Leggings is something every girl have regardless of how much you follow fashion. I used to go through 3 or 4 pairs a year as holes would start appearing in weird places. Since i switched over to AA leggings they've lasted me at least a year which is a god send. They cost me 40 dollars in Aus so when i saw them for 15 at the warehouse i went crazy. Another piece i picked up was the KESH cap. When the collection first came out i bought the cropped singlet and the jacket but in the back of my mind I wanted the hat too but didn't want to go overboard. When I saw the only cap of that design there i knew it was a sign. Theres also a proper store downstairs with the latest stock. Heres a little look at what the warehouse looks like.
LA may be a long way from home but its good to know we have a store on Chapel St to get our AA fix.
